Annyalla is one of the last areas in County Monaghan to have the exchange enabled for DSL (Digital Subcriber Line) broadband. If we do not have the exchange enabled this time then there is a chance that we as a community will depend on unreliable wireless technologies for the foreseeable future while other areas move forward with next generation broadband speeds.
Have a look at the page on the benefits of broadband to see why we need to struggle ot have the upgrade completed.
The Annyalla exchange (AYL) in Eircom speak is a small rural exchange with about 350 lines. Eircom have said they will not upgrade exchanges with less than 300 lines. As more people use mobile phones and the economic situation worsens it would be normal to expect households to remove their land lines, so in future our exchange will probably fall below the viable level for upgrade.
We are seeking support from across the community through our petition so Cllr Gary Carville can influence Eircom to make the investment we need for the future prosperity of our residential community and business community.
Your Name , Address, number of residents in the house and a brief message “I support this petition to upgrade the Annyalla exchange to DSL”. If possible please leave your landline telephone number.
See the map below, we are last or second last…..
